DYNAMIC CONTEMPLATION

Photo Gallery

Adjust the art storage panels to view various configurations of photographs. Slide the panels around for an intimate viewing space. Grab a book on your way and sit, contemplating art and words.
The gallery space is able to maneuver into small, enclosed spaces, however each space is never perfectly shut out from the rest of the gallery, providing a tenuous sense of privacy. The works displayed will be a selection of sets from Sophie Calle’s collection Sleepers (Les Demeurs) which is a series of photographs of people, often strangers, who slept in Sophie Calle’s bed. As she photographed them, the sleepers experienced both cozy privacy in her small bedroom, but no privacy as they were being watched and photographed the whole time. Sheer curtains and wire artwork racks can move to be layered or exposed artwork, providing the viewer with the same intimate non-privacy as the subjects of the photographs.
